Get to Know Andrea

How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as an intelligent, independent, and loving woman. I am a product of kindness and humanity; a woman who lives true to her core. My life experiences have molded me into a leader, protector, and nurturer.

Who is another woman who has inspired you in your life? Why does she inspire you? What are some of her compelling qualities?

My mother. She fled her hometown as a single mother without knowing the language or country. My mother got us to where we are today. She worked tirelessly without ever complaining, and when conditions worsened, she never got discouraged but instead would work harder.

If you could have 1 hour of uninterrupted time with her, what would you do? What would you talk about? Where would you go?

I would go back to Mexico with her. She’s the most at ease when she’s back home. I would just enjoy my time with her at my grandparent’s house.

There are many young Latinas in hopes of starting to pursue their dreams and goals. What advice would you give her?

Believe in yourself, don't be afraid to ask for help, keep an open mind, accept change, learn to adapt, and stay determined.

What quote or phrase has stayed with you?

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.” -Maraboli
