How To Support Latina's In Your Community

There are 60.6 million Hispanics in the US, and 49% of those are Latina women. Although Latinas are one of the fastest-growing populations, they still have a drastically low graduation rate. We are dedicated to the advancement of Latinas through academic assistance, leadership development, and civic engagement while simultaneously helping to bridge opportunity gaps and economic disparities within the Latin community.  Latinicida advocates for the integration of Latinas within all aspects of the classroom, community, and corporate structure, while embracing cultural heritage and establishing networks among other Latinas. Latinicida supports all Latina communities in their community and corporate lives, but true change happens with group effort. Keep reading below to learn more about how you can help support the growing Latina population in the US.

Support Organizations That Support Latinas

One of the best ways to support Latina communities near you is by supporting organizations that provide resources for Hispanic women. Latinicida aims to bring mentorship and networking support to Latin women while also providing resources to help accomplish personal and professional ambitions. In addition to our organization, look into local organizations near you that are designed to help support Latina communities. These can be just as successful as the larger organizations. Consider becoming a sponsor for Latinicida today!

Academic & Professional Assistance

Providing academic and professional assistance to Latina communities across the US is critical in helping advance their futures. Due to systemic issues, Latin women are less likely to hold a college degree compared to White women and men - from a lack of representation, resources, and a plethora of other factors. Latinicida provides mentoring and networking opportunities to allow equal access for all women. Although the percentage of Latinas with a bachelor or graduates degree has risen - 17% in 2000 to 30% in 2017 - there needs to be a greater change.

Mental Health Support

Latinas often feel misunderstood and underrepresented, and the need for effective programs and access to resources is critical. Having the representation of other accomplished Latinas who have faced similar struggles and succeeded in balancing their dual cultural identities is one of the strongest motivators for Latina women but is what they lack the most. Latinicida not only wants to put effort into supporting professional and academic efforts but also supporting mental health efforts and resources by providing this representation that they need.
